Now homemade loaf/bread easily beats a factory made loaf any day! Yes yes the loaf is waaaaay more thicker and the texture heavier but ‘ a piece of delicious deliciousness, especially when its straight out of the oven and you lather on butter, it immediately melts and drips on to the sides. I’m getting carried away by convincing you that homemade loaf is so
yummy, tasty, delicious!
I made this dairy free by using homemade walnut milk (yipppppppeeeeeeeeeee), so in other words your choice of milk can be used. It does take a bit of time in the oven about an 1 1/2 hours, if your loaf starts browning too quickly in the oven and isn’t done yet cover it with an aluminum foil.
- 3 cup flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk - lukewarm (dairy-free milk can also be used)
- 1 1/2 sachets yeast or 3 tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3/4 cup warmed milk
- Extra flour for kneading
- In a bowl mix the 1/2 cup lukewarm milk, yeast and the 1 tsp sugar. Leave the yeast to rise about 5-10 minute. In the meantime mix the flour, salt and the 3/4 cup sugar. Form a well in the flour, pour the yeast mixture into it and mix. add the remaining milk and knead a dough, extra flour may be needed. knead for about 5 minutes.
- Put the dough in a warm place and allow it to rise for 2 hours, minimum 1 hour. Shape into a loaf without punching it down and bake in a preheated oven of 180 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours.
